It’s that time of year again, where everyone suddenly cares a lot about college basketball and brackets become more than just that thing that holds up a shelf.
March is where the Madness lies, but what’s the hubbub about a basketball tournament? Why does everyone spend hours upon hours filling out brackets and then hours upon hours changing said bracket? Why would someone spend 2 hours sitting in front of the TV waiting to see where college basketball teams are going to
The argument can be made that the reason for March Madness is because anything can happen. It’s the time of year where 12th seeded Yale beat the 5th seed Baylor to mark their first tournament win or where 14th ranked Steven F. Austin can overtake the 3rd seeded West Virginia.Or it’s for moments like Michigan St. losing in the opening round, thus breaking so many brackets of bold people hoping they win it all.
It’s the time where Cinderella Story doesn’t refer to the Disney classic or any of the movies starring Hilary Duff, Chad Michael Murry, or Selena Gomez. It’s the time when an entire country roots for the underdog because of the magic of March and when Duke has a 50% of either breaking your heart or making you fall so helplessly in love with Coach K and his band of merry villains.
So no matter the reason for madness in march, come every March brackets upon brackets will be filled out and changed and people will be constantly checking scores/their bracket’s rank and watching hours upon hours of basketball waiting for the next Cinderella Story to happen.
Happy March Madness everyone!
