News broke late this afternoon that the NBA was pulling the All-Star Game out of North Carolina following their passing of the controversial HB2. The league hopes to reschedule the game to appear in Charlotte in 2019, but the damage is already done.
This move is huge because of the amount of revenue the city just lost. Think about it: that means no revenue from all the hotel rooms booked and no revenue for restaurants and rental car companies. The amounts of money lost with this news is mind boggling.
Plus it’s like the NHL finally bringing a team to Las Vegas of the NBA putting ads on jerseys, all it takes it one league to make a move for the others to possibly follow suit.
That’s not to say that the Carolina Panthers will be finding a new home or the Carolina Hurricanes either but it shows that one league is not going to stand by and let politics tell their fans/players how to live their lives.
Kudos to the NBA for standing up and saying no to discrimination.
